On the Lanzarote grand tour you visit Timanfaya Nation Park, where you will see Fire Mountain, were you can watch food being barbecued over a volcano. On the Fuerteventura grand tour you visit La Oliva, sacred Tindata Mountain, goat breeding farm, the natural park "the dunes of Corralejo" and many more places.

Visit the caves of Ajul then stroll along the black sand beach. Ajuy is a small pleasent fishing village on the west coast of Fuerteventura. There is a clearly laid out path  to the right of the beach, which goes up, around to the 'Mirador Caleta Negra', the views are spectacular. Walk down the steps to the first cavern at sea level. Both end of this cave are open to the sea. You need to climb over to reach the second caven, a powerful torch is required if you want to explore the back of this cave. Once you have finished exploring, try some fresh locally caught fish in one of the restaurants, it is excellent.

It is a wonderful view from Mirador Morro Velosa, it is worth a visit. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays, but you can always go around the corner with views towards the town of Valle de Santa Ines, the view is just as good. It is not always clear as it suffers from low cloud and can be cold. There is a restaurant for some refreshments. It was designed by Cesar Manrique. To get there from Caleta de Fuste: Turn left at the Costa de Antigua roundabout on to FV 413 to Antigua. When you get to Antigua turn right on to FV 20 then left after a short distance on to FV 416; following the signs to Betancuria. Take care, the road has plenty of bends and there is a ditch on the outside of the road.

ANTIGUA - A large inland village with an 18th century Nuestra Seṅora de Antigua church in the centre - it's the oldest on the island, which is well worth a visit. There is also a fully restored windmill, Molina de Antigua.

BETANCURIA - French mercenary Jean de Béthencourt conquered Fuerteventura in 1402 and set up a permanent base therein the 15th century including a chapel. Visitors can still see the ruins of the first monastery plus museums and craft centres.

CORRALEJO - The first tourist area of Fuerteventura. It has wonderful views to Lobos Island and to Lanzarote as well as over 20km² of sand dunes located south east of the town called el Jable.

EL COTILLO - A small underdeveloped fishing village at the northern end of Fuerteventura, on the west coast. The tower, toston in Spanish, from which the views of the new harbour and the beaches were taken, is open to the public. In the tower you can find a tourist information centre of sorts. Even though the tower was built as a defence against English pirates, some of the information leaflets are in English.

A couple of miles to the north of El Cotillo there is a lighthouse, and a pleasant afternoon can be spent wandering there and back.

ISLA DE LOBOS - A little island north of Corralejo, inhabited by one family that look after the visitors. Each day a boat travels from Corralejo to Lobos at 10:00 and returns at 16:00.

LA OLIVA - Home to a 300 year old farmhouse La casa de los Coroneles (House of Colonels). La Oliva was formaly the island's social and political centre. This is currently undergoing a phase reconstruction, but is impressive enough to be worth a visit, and it is located just down from the ayuntamiento. It was built in 1708 and was the home of the military rulers of the island. The parish church of La Oliva, is dedicated to the Virgen de la Candelaria, has three naves and a tower of black stone. There is also a very interesting Grain Museum - Casa de la Cilla.

PUERTO DEL ROSARIO - The capital of Fuerteventura. Superb for shopping and city life with over half the population of fuerteventura live there. Casa Museo de Unamuno is one of the attractions where the exiled  Spanish writer / philosopher Miguel de Unamuno stayed briefly in 1942.

The ‘American star’ is well worth a visit on the remote west coast. This is a wreck on the beach of Playa de Garcy. To get there head south on the FV 605 from Pajara for approximately 5km, then turn right on to an unsurfaced road. The ship, once the pride of the United States maritime industry, was wrecked in a storm on its way to Thailand, now it has been converted into a floating hotel. The Cafeteria del Naufragio (Shipwreck Café) in Puerto del Rosario is completely fitted out with windows, doors, paneling and furniture from this once fantastic ship.

In the village Villaverde lies the jameo (entrance) to a lava tube, which is called Cuevo del Llanos. The Cuevo del Llanos is a lava tube which was formed by a lava stream from the Mt. Escanfraga. This chain was formed more than 690,000 years ago, 400m of the lava tube towards north are developed with paths and electric light. The cave is famous for endemic troglobionts, which are portrayed in the little museum at the entrance. Two new endemic kinds of spiders, one only known from this cave, live here, do not worry if you do not like spiders, you do not go that far. Interesting are also the vertebrate fossils, and fossil and subfossil gastropodes found in the cave. An undeveloped 190m long cave Cueva de Villaverde, was discovered in 1979 during construction work.

There are a number of museums that you could visit, the salt museum is just 2 km from Caleta de Fuste at Las Salinas, Fuerteventura. This museum is a cultural complex formed by the El Carmen Salt Flats, built around 1910 and a museum centre that provides an overall view of the culture arising around salt.           All museums are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
